Peter Kuper (1958) je nadvse plodovit ameriški stripar in ilustrator, znan tudi po svojem družbenopolitičnem angažmaju. Svoja dela objavlja v raznih publikacijah širom sveta, med drugim v revijah The New Yorker in MAD. Leta 1979 je soustanovil politično angažirano stripovsko revijo World War III Illustrated in vse do danes ostal član njenega uredništva. Je avtor številnih odmevnih knjig – za Ruins je leta 2016 prejel prestižno Eisnerjevo nagrado za najboljši stripovski roman. V strip je priredil tudi več klasičnih literarnih del: v slovenskem prevodu lahko beremo njegovo zbirko stripovskih zgodb Kafka, ustvarjeno po različnih kratkih zgodbah modernističnega velikana Franza Kafke, ter stripovska albuma Preobrazba, prav tako po Kafkovi kratki zgodbi, in Srce teme, priredbo istoimenskega romana Josepha Conrada. Že trideset let poučuje strip na Šoli za vizualne umetnosti v New Yorku in je gostujoči profesor na Harvardu.
Lani smo lahko avtorjeve stripovske originale občudovali na festivalski razstavi Preobrazbe, letos pa se nam bo Kuper končno tudi v živo pridružil v Ljubljani! Peter Kuper je eden od svetovnih mojstrov stripa. Poleg tega je močno angažiran umetnik s poudarjeno etično noto in poleg zabavnih ter osebnoizpovednih ustvarja tudi družbenokritične stripe ter stripovske adaptacije literarnih klasikov. Redno objavlja v reviji Stripburger, v slovenščini pa je doslej izšlo že več njegovih knjižnih del. Z avtorjem se bo pogovarjal prevajalec, stripovski recenzent in član uredništva Stripburgerja Bojan Albahari. Pogovor bo potekal v angleščini.
