REMIX COMIX

Building community and future heritage through comics!

The international project Remix Comix: Comics for Heritage, the result of a two-year collaboration between six non-governmental cultural organizations from Slovenia, Serbia, Czech Republic and the Netherlands, in which Stripburger participates as the Slovenian partner, focuses on contemporary original comics and the power and potential of comics and art in community building. It highlights the invisible and overlooked cultural heritage of various marginalised social groups and explores the possible contribution of comics and art to a fairer and more inclusive society.

The Remix Comix project, which connects a multitude of creators, researchers and social activists from various artistic backgrounds, will visit Ljubljana during the Tinta Comics Festival. In addition to the three-day international conference Comics and Community, it will also host several exhibitions and other events in the public space, created in the AKC Metelkova area by selected artists, guests of the Remix Comix residency programme.

The conference will be launched on Thursday in the ZRC Atrium by a lecture by Paul Gravett, a legendary British comics historian and expert on global comics. Friday will feature events and discussions with various important protagonists of the (independent) European comics scene. Saturday’s programme at Kino Šiška joins the already traditional accompanying fair programme of the Tinta Comics Festival, which includes comic book talks, masterclasses and conversations with renowned Slovenian and foreign comic book authors.

Speakers: Paul Gravett (UK), Erwin Dejasse (BE), Mazen Kerbaj (LB), Pakito Bolino / Le Dernier Cri (FR), Sanna Hukkanen / Kutikuti (FI), Barbora Müllerova / festival LUSTR (CZ), Alberto Polita / TCBF – Treviso Comic Book Festival (IT), Katerina Mirović / Stripburger (SI), Guido van Hengel (NL), Winshluss (FR), Philip Waechter (DE), Inkeri Aula (FI), Mikael Ross (DE), Katarina Šeme (SI), Ivan Mitrevski (SI), Goran Lukić (SI), Marijan Pušavec (SI), Zoran Smiljanić (SI), Jaka Vukotič (SI), Blaž Vurnik (SI) …
