A thrilling contrast between charming drawings and dark themes

Kerascoët (Marie Pommepuy and Sébastien Cosset) is an acclaimed French creative duo known for numerous internationally successful comics. Among other works, they co-create the award-winning comic saga Dungeon, also popular in Slovenia, and are regarded as one of the most visually accomplished and stylistically diverse tandems in contemporary European comics. They mostly work from scripts by other writers, with their artistic expression ranging from delicate drawings and fairytale poetics to dark, very thrilling narratives.

Among their most celebrated works is Beautiful Darkness (Jolies Ténèbres), written by Fabien Vehlmann – an unusual and shocking story that uses the contrast between a charming visual style and dark themes to explore cruelty, the struggle for survival, and the hidden sides of human nature. Stripolis will also publish it in Slovenian translation.

Through an exhibition at Equrna Gallery, Kerascoët will take us into their rich creative and comic universe. A discussion with the artists will take place at the opening of the exhibition, while at Tinta’s Saturday fair in Kino Šiška, they will reveal their creative process during a lecture and sign copies of the Slovenian translation of their graphic novel.
