WAR AND PEAS

A notorious dark-humoured webcomic with over a million followers

German creators Elizabeth Pich (born 1989) and Jonathan Kunz (born 1988) form the comic duo behind War and Peas, a weekly webcomic they’ve been publishing online since as far back as 2011. Their darkly comic, often morbid or absurd strips are drawn with an almost geometric precision and condensed into just four panels each, tackling a wide range of themes, from everyday personal dilemmas to the major global issues of our time. The webcomic’s adventures frequently feature recognisable recurring characters – from The Grim Reader, struggling with the banalities of daily life, to the fearless Slutty Witch – always surprising readers with witty twists and attracting an audience of over a million followers worldwide.

At Kino Šiška, the duo will present the exhibition Apocalypse Now, which, as the title suggests, showcases their most apocalyptic yet delightfully entertaining strips from the series. The authors will also discuss their long-running project in a special talk held as part of Saturday’s comics fair.
